Description

An idea conceived in 1994, The Palmetto Trail is an ambitious South Carolina project connecting the Atlantic coast with the Blue Ridge mountains. When completed, the trail will cover over 425 continuous miles and run through 14 counties.<br />
290 miles are completed and currently available for public use. <br />

PALMETTO TRAIL SECTION 14 - BLACKSTOCK BATTLEFIELD PASSAGE: <br />
<br />
4 mile loop path separated by two unfinished sections. Spectacular riverfront hiking and mountain biking along a remote section of the Tyger River. Interpretive historic site. Moderately difficult trail during good conditions.

Directions

From Exit 44 on I-26, drive through Cross Anchor on SC 49 and enter Union County. Turn left onto Blackstock Road (Union County S-44-51), drive 1.6 miles, and turn right onto Battlefield Road. At the fork, bear left onto Monument Road. The parking area is approximately 1.0 mile on the left.<br /><br /><br /><br />From Spartanburg, drive south on SC 56 and cross over the Tyger River. Turn left onto Blackstock Road (Spartanburg County S-42-115). Drive 1.4 miles and turn left onto Battlefield Road. At the fork, bear left onto Monument Road. The parking area is approximately 1.0 mile on the left.<br /><br />
